Teen Health Crew is a nationally recognized youth development initiative that trains high school students as peer educators to deliver health education programs to local elementary, middle and high school students. The Crew was launched in Milwaukee during the 1996-1997 school year in response to the many requests received from educators for teens to deliver positive health messages to their peers and younger children. In 2007, the Teen Health Crew expanded to the Fox Valley.
Teen Health Crew members are released from school one or two days per month to teach with Children’s Health Education Center staff. They determine the frequency of their teaching and choose their own teaching dates according to their academic and personal schedules. In return for their commitment, members receive an academic scholarship upon high school graduation.
