 It’s Up 2 U uses game-based learning to explore the effects of marijuana, tobacco, alcohol, inhalants, over-the-counter and prescription drugs. Students explore the imaginary town of Westport, where Adrian has just died from an overdose. Your students will explore how and why Adrian overdosed and work to prevent it from happening to another student. Students will meet some friends - Monica, Seth, Michael and LaToya - while learning about different drugs and their effects. Using a virtual cell phone and journal will help students keep track of what happened to Adrian.
Students who participate in It’s Up 2 U will:
- Explore a virtual town where they learn important drug-related and prevention concepts.
- Talk with the local librarian, teacher, police officer and other community members that introduce or reinforce content.
- Choose actions and experience the rewards or the consequences associated with those actions.
- Observe videos and interact with online resources.
- Log experiences in a journal.
- Complete web quests.
