BlueKids.org e-learning programs are interactive, engaging and fun, designed to help students understand and retain content. Take a few moments to experience some of the activities that make up Destination Respiration.
Dive to the Diaphragm
In this activity students will explore how we inhale and exhale. As homework, Miss Merlina asks the students to discover how we inhale and exhale. The kids decide to try the Magic Locker, which takes them to Diaphragm Cavern. Here Mollie Mai and her friends can see up close, how the lungs, ribs, and diaphragm work to inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide.
Double Escape
The Double Escape game provides students the opportunity to review critical concepts they learned in Destination Respiration in a fast-paced Pac Man-style game. The game includes three levels:
Level 1: Students move their red blood cells through the maze collecting oxygen molecules while avoiding allergens that chase them around the maze.
Level 2: Students collect carbon dioxide molecules and irritants chase them around the maze.
Level 3: Students must collect oxygen molecules and take them to the body, and then collect carbon dioxide molecules for exhalation.
Extra points can be earned in all three levels by collecting the food pyramids as well as respiratory helpers that appear randomly in the maze.
